Samokov is a town in the Sofia Province in the southwest of Bulgaria, located 60km south of the Bulgarian capital. It is situated on the northern slopes of Rila Mountain.

Due to the suitable winter sports conditions, Samokov, together with the nearby resort Borovets (9km), is a major tourist centre.
